About

The Talon Company was founded by Dr. Christina L. Carmen. The company specializes in engineering design (with an emphasis on Product Realization), engineering workforce training, and space/engineering education. Dr. Carmen has extensive engineering design, product realization, applied Systems Engineering, and STEM outreach experience. She has conducted seminars, workshops, and presentations throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, and Central America. Dr. Carmen has over 20 years of expertise in product realization/engineering and the application of the United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) systems engineering processes within engineering projects. She has supervised over 350 design teams, resulting in high-quality, deliverable products for various customers.

Dr. Carmen received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology where she conducted experimental and computational research to determine the fractal dimension of solid rocket propellants. While working for Aerotherm, Inc., she computationally determined rocket nosecone ablation rates of High Endo-atmospheric Defense Interceptors. She received a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville where her research focused on the numerical determination of spark-ignited turbulent flame speeds.

Dr. Carmen has received national and international engineering awards, including the Society of Automotive Engineers Ralph R. Teetor engineering educator award presented in Toulouse, France. She was honored to be a NASA Exploration Systems Mission Directorate Fellow where her research focused on the numerical optimization of spaceflight systems. Dr. Carmen has authored/co-authored over 50 technical publications.
